In your relationship to money, which manager are you ?

What I find fantastic these days is that we need little money to start an entrepreneurial project. It is above all a question of execution that will require perseverance, passion and desire. It will also be necessary to have a product market fit !

Ask yourself how you relate to money because it can have a positive or negative impact on your project. Some will project their anxieties on money, such as the problems it can cause in the world or, conversely, security, power and freedom.

Men lose their health to accumulate money… Then they lose that money to regain their health… And to think anxiously about the future, they forget the present…. In such a way that they end up living neither the present nor the future. They live as if they will never die… And die as if they had never lived !

In which category do you belong ?

Squirrel tendency : You collect piece by piece or in millions. You accumulate money and you are careful to spend less than you earn. Everything is thought out even if it means not having fun.

Your psychological needs are security and happiness.

The problem : You can impose security by anticipating all possible and imaginable risks.

Saboteur’s tendency : You repel money by ensuring that it is not accumulated.

Your psychological needs are to avoid conflict, injustice, anxiety and even to associate money with dirt.

The problem : This type of unconscious behaviour means that a project cannot succeed.

Roller coaster trend : You collect money and eventually get rid of it.

Your psychological needs: Unconsciously, your projections on money are positive and negative. They express themselves positively in a first movement but become negative in the second.

The problem: I push money away one way or another.

Money is not the problem but often you yourself

It is easy to get a bad consideration of it. To remedy this, it is necessary to question the elements that bring us joy. Indeed, the fear of missing will be at the expense of one’s own choices. This requires a positive view of oneself.

Distrust of money will develop aggressiveness and jealousy among people who have it. Quite often, money is seen for what it is not and can become a matter of life and death! It must be said that this is a difficult subject to discuss and that remains taboo, especially in France.

It must be understood that money is not the basis of happiness. Binary thinking would suggest that we either make money or have fun. However, our report is more complex and nuanced than it seems.

If you think the adventure is dangerous, try the routine… it’s deadly

Here are some examples :

  • Some who have a lot to lose feel less free than those who have nothing to lose.
  • There are those who feel trapped in their work.
  • And those who are afraid that they will no longer be able to provide for their children.
  • And so on…

Not allowing yourself to fail and being afraid of others’ eyes leads to failure. You will then have difficulty correctly valuing a service, a request for an increase, a job done and its quality. All because you have not succeeded in giving value for what you really are worth.

Problems with money can be expressed in many ways. Here are some examples :

  • When the external aspects did not create values but just illusion.
  • When education in the face of money may have given the impression or explicitly said that it was too expensive.
  • Or when a debt permeates your mind and takes energy from you because it has not been cleared up and left unresolved.

For many, debt has a negative image. In many cases, the borrower knows that he or she must repay while carrying an unnecessary burden. This burden will most often be guilt and shame.

When you project your security into money, you will not see your inner insecurity disappear. It must be understood that even if the money no longer exists or another system is put in place, there is a good chance that this need for security will be projected onto something else.

Overall, no attitude that tends to accumulate or repel money is a win-win situation. Somehow we are all slaves with the constant concern to run after it either to calm our fears or to make ends meet.

A loss of meaning that is often related to past events

As soon as you work to earn money, it is omnipresent. There is a screen where everyone shows their own film. Our behaviour and our relationship with money may be linked to certain family events. These are striking memories, even very old ones, that can mark our daily lives.

The irony of life is that as soon as you don’t worry about material goods and material success, the way is open for them to move in your direction.

Some family stories lead to unconscious behaviour in the use you may have made of them.

Let us take the example of pocket money. If you had more than your classmates, two perceptions and attitudes may have appeared :

  • Either their influence to take advantage of it has signalled a problem for you.
  • Either he allowed you to attract their attention.

As you will have understood, as adults, some people adopt a type of behaviour such as accumulating, while others will take the lead by not depriving themselves of any desires, even if this does not bring any satisfaction.

Reconcile with money

It is necessary to adopt an approach in the way we live our lives. Understanding your relationship with money means knowing yourself better and sometimes daring to face the parts of yourself that we don’t like. It also means reappropriating one’s shadows, inner security, freedom, autonomy, creativity… and not falling into limiting beliefs.

  • Reclaiming failure : By trying, by taking more risk.
  • Reclaim the thief : That is, do not apply prices that are too low at the risk of sabotaging your business. Because, in the end, you take money from your family, your spouse or your children.
  • Reclaiming your share of violence : Allowing yourself to defend yourself better if the situation requires it.
  • Reclaim the dictator : This means the right dictator, the one who decides, decides or imposes a good decision in the service of a project.
  • Reclaiming the seller : It means daring to put yourself forward and sell your services “Selling yourself” at the right price, whether for a product, a service or a service.

It is easier to change if you dare to talk about it. You can ask for other people’s salaries if your relationships are excellent. Because it must not change the relationship between you. It is quite possible to communicate, to speak objectively about your relationship to money without making a display of closeness and complaining about not transmitting your fears.

Be aware that money is one element among many. It is possible to have fun while earning money. To do this, you have to ask yourself the question about your work, or even stop if you are poorly paid to do something you like to do. The value of work is at the heart of what you put into your activity. Finding your inner security is the result of a more or less long path depending on your experience.

To question oneself on one’s notion of family loyalty towards the link to money is a first key to access to a certain inner peace.

Paradoxically, when you give yourself permission to be irresponsible in conscience and, for example, change jobs to do what you are passionate about. So you become very responsible. Responsibility or irresponsibility as well as failure or success are only points of view.

Like money, debt is neither good nor bad! The loan is a relationship of trust with the lender. In this successful borrower-lender relationship, there are two winners :

  • The one who invests and uses his money in a meaningful way and with a satisfactory return.
  • Anyone who can benefit from this financial contribution to develop a personal or professional project.

Without debt being an objective in itself, it can be useful and serve something happy and motivating. It can be useful to break out of traditional patterns and open up to as much as possible by daring to get into debt or ask for support.

By belonging to a living community can bring serenity in its relationship with money. You will no longer need to compensate for a hypothetical lack of security and you will be supported and surrounded by your community.

Life presents itself to you and asks nothing of you. You can accept it and swim with delight through it. You will also be able to choose to spend your life fighting, resisting, always wanting something other than what you have, you cannot use your time to enjoy all that you have given yourself

Stop looking for security through money, get out of your comfort zone, let go of control, try new things, take another path. By sometimes awakening certain fears, it is a vehicle for discovering about oneself, others or life.

And you what is your relationship to money ?
